More DCGOP commentary...

Douglas County GOP Reaching Out To Community
April 10th, 2009

You may have noticed ongoing changes with the DCGOP.org website.  These changes represent the change in how we are going to be doing business.  We were faced with questions and concerns that it was too hard to get information, to get involved, or to get heard... we listened and are taking action.

A few notable changes are as follows:

1.    Homepage Twitter Feeds: These continuous updates from Twitter track important events in real time.  Sen. Ted Harvey tweets from the floor of the State Capitol in hopes to drive activists to flood switchboards as voting is taking place - providing a show of Conservative Force.  Crista Huff, District Captain, tweets regarding community events and general conservative chatter, allowing individuals to voice concerns and wishes for the direction of the party - providing more individual control of our party.  John Ransom, DCGOP Chair, tweets about important events which should take precedent - such as the upcoming tea parties.  All are intended to provide real-time information requiring instant action.

2.    Volunteer Sign-Up: We are beginning to build a database aimed at continuous activism throughout the year.  One of the most common contacts I received in the week AFTER the presidential election was "I want to know how to help".  Short of stepping in the time machine, there was nothing that could be done to change the outcome of the election - but we can build an effective group of continuous volunteers in a volunteer pool, able and willing to help out in their desired areas, who are ready to step into action in a moments notice... IF THIS IS YOU, please sign up!

3.    Blog and Chat Forums: These are currently in development, but the ultimate goal of the DCGOP website is to create a forum for conservative and libertarian dialogue.  When you register for an account on the website, you will be able to give feedback in the forums, start discussions with other local residents about issues that are important to YOU, and receive feedback from party officers and captains on YOUR issues.  You will also soon be able to respond to blogs, such as this one, giving you yet another voice within the party.

The theme of the new DCGOP website is YOU.  We have heard your complaints, your concerns, and your frustrations... and we are taking action.  This is your party... THE party of Individual Liberty, NOT collectivism.  THE party of Limited Government, NOT Socialist Control.

Help us get back to our roots, revive true conservative and libertarian values in the state and the nation.

Douglas County is setting the standard for party communication.  We will take it from our county, and share our tools with other counties, states, and national organizations... For our values to survive, it is imperative that we learn how to effectively communicate.  We are making it happen for YOU!
